Missing Words
I’m on the last pass through The Drop: Season Four and still finding proofing errors. It’s a bit scary, particularly since I read it aloud and that usually catches most errors. I’ve found at least a dozen on a subsequent (not aloud) reread and more as I go through the paperback format. In fact, last time I discovered a missing word in the next-to-last sentence of the book. And this time, another missing word within the first few paragraphs. What the heck, man? I keep telling myself this is why it’s important to proofread multiple times. Sure, I could pay for a proofreader, but I honestly don’t have the funds for that kind of investment. I’ve checked before and it’s quite expensive, so I invest my own time to make the book as near-perfect as possible. I think I’m pretty good at it, but also realistic that errors will slip through. I just try to minimize those. If proofing is not your forte, I highly recommend hiring someone. You never know what find. (That’s a joke - see what I did there? I left out a word. Not funny? Fine. I’ll show myself the door).
