That Feeling

I’m over 25k words into the draft of The Drop: Season Five and have that feeling. What feeling, you ask? The one where I think it’s going well but I need to spice it up. Overall, I like the framework of the story and where it’s taking me. And it’s not that the story’s bad - I just have the sense I need to add even more conflict to the mix. Admittedly, a couple of the earlier chapters are there to set up the overall story; however, that doesn’t mean they have to be tame. I was thinking about this last night and I came to the conclusion I need an additional overarching element of danger, and maybe more than one. What does that element look like? I don’t know yet. I have a couple of ideas, some which are a little too far out for a series like this. Let’s see what else the ol’ brain can come up with in response to that feeling.
